To cultivate a generation of scientists capable of transforming the landscape of infectious disease research, we provide trainees with a spectrum of experiences – from clinical shadowing to faculty mentorship - designed to empower them to explore uncharted scientific territories, challenge existing paradigms, and innovate new solutions.
Clinical Challenges in ID: From Bedside to Bench
This seminar series features CISID physician-scientists who will share how their clinical practice inspires their research. These sessions provide powerful insights into how real-world medical challenges directly drive scientific discovery.
Science in Progress Meetings
These meetings provide a vital forum for CISID trainees to present ongoing research. By leveraging the community’s diverse expertise, sessions offer constructive feedback and fresh perspectives to strengthen their science.
Meet the Investigator Brunches
These casual brunches offer CISID trainees a unique opportunity to connect personally and professionally with CISID investigators. These informal gatherings offer peer networking and foster mentorship from established scientific leaders in a relaxed setting outside the laboratory.
Shadow a Physician program
Launching in early 2026, this clinical shadowing program offers CISID trainees invaluable, real-world experience. Participants pair with investigators to observe patient care firsthand, gaining unique, practical insights into infectious disease practice and clinical decision-making.

CISID Launches New Seminar Series

CISID debuted its Clinical Challenges in ID: From Bedside to Bench seminar series, designed to bridge clinical perspectives with basic research. In this inaugural seminar, physician-scientist Dr. Roby Bhattacharyya shared insights into the challenges of Antimicrobial Resistance, informed by his experience as an infectious disease physician at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).
